Hello, fellow Earthlings.

Unpacking My Phone

Unpacking My Phone

One of the weird side effects of travel these days is app overload. I wrote about this before, the fact that even if you are willing to travel without a smartphone, travel isn’t willing to let you. You need your phone for everything - boarding passes, maps, text confirmations…

So being back home, I am not just unpacking my suitcase. I’m also deleting all the remaining apps I had to download along the way. I think my phone feels lighter.

Just for fun, here’s an incomplete list of apps that I downloaded on our trip:
Bus & Tram (Edinburgh)
m-tickets (Edinburgh)
DOT Tickets (Copenhagen)
WestJet (Denver - London)
NCL (Mediterranean cruise)
Sagrada Familia (Barcelona)
City Tour (Barcelona)
SNCF Connect (Spain/France trains)
Alsa (Regional buses in Spain)
Get Your Guide (all over the place)
Key Tours (Athens)
Qantas Airlines (Australia)
The O (MONA Museum - Tasmania)
Australian ETA (for our Australian visas)
Moovit (Cuenca buses)
Ktaxi (Cuenca taxis)
American Airlines (I don’t even remember which flight.)
Fly Delta (ditto the American Airlines app)
Trainline (Trains in Italy and France)
Avianca (South America)
Azutaxi (Cuenca taxis)
Where is Public Toilet Europe (Ha! Necessary!)
Airalo (e-SIM cards all over the world…I’m keeping this app for the future)

Crazy, right? On the other hand, there were probably just as many apps I could have deleted before we left, since I wasn’t using Target, Amazon, my gym membership, Instacart, the kids’ school stuff, and Torchy’s Tacos. God I missed those tacos.

Anyway, it’s good to be home. :)
